Starfield has a new all-platform patch focused on stability, Creations crashes and quest blockers. Bethesda Game Studios says update 1.16.242 is available now, with another update already in the works for a planned June release.
The May 14 update is not a major feature drop, but it targets problems that can interrupt a save file or mod-heavy setup. Bethesda says the patch fixes crashes that could occur when viewing Creations, making an autosave, loading Creations with legacy data or removing certain item types in Outpost mode. The notes also include broader crash and stability fixes.
Several gameplay bugs are cleaned up here. Muria should no longer consume ammo, the Plasma Cutter has been adjusted to stop some unintended legendary effects from appearing and Mineral Farms should no longer show up on Earth. Colony War Action Heroes will also appear more often after the patch.
The quest fixes are narrower but potentially important if they hit your save. Into the Void has been patched to address a problem that could stop the quest from starting as intended, while Lone Wolf has a fix for an issue that could prevent the quest from resolving when landing at Neon with Dax.
Bethesda also made a few UI changes, including an updated message for full save game space, a fix for some crafting mods displaying incorrectly in the workbench UI and a fix for the EULA appearing incorrectly. The studio has not said what June's next all-platform update will include.
