Palworld 1.0 is live, moving Pocketpair's open-world survival game out of early access with a huge update that adds 72 Pals, two major new areas and broad changes to almost every part of the game.
According to Pocketpair's official Palworld 1.0 changelog, the update brings the total Pal count to 287 and opens Sunreach, a set of floating islands above Palpagos, alongside the long-teased World Tree. The release follows more than two years in early access and lands after Pocketpair had already warned that the Palworld 1.0 patch notes spanned 27 pages.
Sunreach and the World Tree lead the 1.0 update
Sunreach is the update's new sky area, with new Pals, tower bosses and ores tied to specialized equipment. The World Tree is positioned as the heart of Palworld's story and unlocks after players defeat the tower bosses scattered through the Palpagos Islands.

Pocketpair has also reorganized the main mission flow, with exploration, tower boss fights and the path toward the World Tree now tied together more directly. Tower bosses have updated arenas, new visuals and a shorter five-minute time limit, down from 10 minutes, with boss stats adjusted around the faster pace.
The update adds new small islands, settlements, watchtowers, ancient ruins and enemy bases at sea. Wildlife Sanctuaries have been reworked as larger protected areas with rare materials, unique Pals, bosses and defense drones.
Pal progression, combat and bases all change
Palworld 1.0 adds two major Pal-growth systems. Awakening lets players use Radiant Gems found in the World Tree to strengthen Pals, while Mutation gives breeding a low chance to produce a stronger Pal with higher stats and a unique passive skill. Pocketpair has also reworked Partner Skills for more than 200 Pals and added over 100 new Pal animations.
The player level cap rises from 65 to 80. Capture bonus requirements have been reduced from 12 captures to five, and Pal condensation now requires 48 Pals to reach maximum rank instead of 116. Those changes should make the full release less punishing for players who want to rebuild teams or train favorites after the balance pass.
Combat has been reworked too, with more responsive player movement, dodge changes, attacks during dashes and a balance pass for Pal active skills. Party Pals can now deal damage equal to or greater than the player after the update's damage rebalance, and players can issue a direct attack command by aiming at an enemy and pressing the mouse wheel or right stick.
Base management gets one of the larger system overhauls. Raids now work as wave-based attacks with rewards after all waves are cleared, while base defense structures no longer consume ammo. The update also adds new building parts, aquatic construction, storage improvements, auto-deposit options and new utility buildings.
Multiplayer changes include in-game voice chat on dedicated servers when enabled in world settings, improved guild roles and permissions, better server joining tools and optional Discord account linking on Steam and Mac. Pocketpair says stability has been improved across dedicated servers, co-op and all platforms.
Palworld 1.0 also arrives close to several player-facing setup stories, including the confirmed Palworld 1.0 launch time and Pocketpair's earlier note that the full release will not force players to wipe their saves. Pocketpair still recommends starting fresh with a new character to experience the reworked progression, but existing save data can continue into version 1.0.
