Fallout 76's Backwoods update has a new way to make Public Events go sideways. Bethesda Game Studios has detailed the update's Uninvited Guests, a set of Legendary enemies that can randomly appear after select Public Events and turn the post-event cleanup into a boss fight.

The feature is part of The Backwoods, the free Fallout 76 update now available to all players. Bethesda says Uninvited Guests are not guaranteed at every Public Event, and that frequency, eligible events and rewards are subject to change through update notes.

The headline addition is Bigfoot, which arrives as a unique 4-star Legendary enemy. Bethesda describes the cryptid as one of Fallout 76's most challenging creatures, with heavy physical attacks and the ability to shed large ticks that can be thrown at players during the fight. Defeating Bigfoot can also award exclusive loot when the encounter appears.

Bigfoot is not the only party crasher. The Uninvited Guests list also includes the Scorchbeast, Deathclaw Matriarch, Wendigo Colossus, Mirelurk Queen and Storm Goliaths from Skyline Valley. Each one is positioned as an end-of-event disruption, forcing squads to adapt after they may already have spent ammo, healing items or buffs finishing the main objective.

That gives Public Events a little more uncertainty than the usual victory lap. A Scorchbeast adds aerial pressure, the Deathclaw Matriarch punishes hesitation up close, the Wendigo Colossus brings fear effects and area damage, the Mirelurk Queen floods space with acid and hatchlings, and Storm Goliaths can turn the arena into an electrical hazard zone.

Bethesda is keeping some of the practical details flexible, including how often the guests appear and which events can trigger them. Fallout 76 is available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and it is also included with Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra.
