Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has shown more of its next created-hero setup, this time through gameplay centered on J-Age, a white-haired Saiyan who appears as one of the sequel's default protagonist options.

The new look follows Bandai Namco's earlier West City trailer, which introduced Age 1000 as the sequel's future Dragon Ball setting. Players will still be able to create their own avatar, but the J-Age footage gives a clearer sample of how one preset Saiyan fights before Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 launches in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

J-Age's mission sends him out with three Great Saiya Squad allies, moving through exploration spaces and 3D combat arenas before a fight against Broly from Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The footage keeps the Xenoverse idea intact: a custom hero fighting beside familiar Dragon Ball characters, with the sequel adding more squad support around the mission flow.

Soul Assist and Soul Switch are the main systems in focus. Soul Assist lets players call in known Dragon Ball fighters, with Future Trunks and Vegeta appearing as examples. Soul Switch goes further by letting the player shift into one of those characters, temporarily taking on their form during battle.

The Dragon Ball Official Site previously detailed a hands-on demo for Xenoverse 3, noting that Super Attacks and Ultimate Attacks now include Defense Breaker, Ki Drain and Critical Strike types. The demo write-up also said Super Attacks no longer spend Ki in the same way, with individual cooldowns instead changing how players manage pressure during fights.

The J-Age footage lines up with that more tactical direction, but it also keeps the series close to its role-playing hook. The Saiyan default hero uses attacks that echo Vegeta, while the default Earthling option leans closer to Goku-style combos. Those presets sit alongside normal character creation, not in place of it.

Outside missions, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 returns to West City as an online hub. Bandai Namco's official game page says players will explore Age 1000, join the Great Saiya Squad and meet original characters brought to life by Akira Toriyama. The sequel also lets players customize a personal space with help from the robot assistant COA.

For anyone following the long wait after Xenoverse 2, this is the useful part of the new footage: Xenoverse 3 is still a custom Dragon Ball action RPG, but the mission format looks more squad-driven and the battle system is putting more weight on assists, temporary character shifts and attack types. Bandai Namco has not narrowed the 2027 release window yet.
