Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will launch on October 2, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, turning Bandai Namco's next mainline flight combat game from a broad 2026 promise into one of the autumn's firm dates.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America confirmed the date in an official release date announcement, with preorders now live in Standard and Deluxe Editions. Deluxe Edition owners get early access from September 29, while all digital preorders include a copy of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War and the playable F-14A aircraft.

Bandai Namco's release date trailer confirms Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve for October 2, 2026.

Strangereal gets its next full campaign

Wings of Theve is the first mainline Ace Combat entry in seven years and is being developed by Bandai Namco Aces. That studio connection matters because Ace Combat is not just a jet game with licensed aircraft. The series has built its identity around arcade-style dogfighting, melodramatic military fiction and impossible superweapons that turn air combat into boss fights.

Bandai Namco says Ace Combat 8 returns to Strangereal, the fictional world used across much of the series. The campaign places players in the Federation of Central Usea after the Republic of Sotoa invades and captures Theve, the FCU capital. The player is rescued by the aging aircraft carrier Endurance, then asked to carry the name Wings of Theve as a symbol for a country trying to fight back.

The new trailer introduces Joker Flight, the player's squadron, with Baxter, Tasha and Coster named as key allies. Bandai Namco says players will lead a squadron of three pilots through the campaign, while PlayStation's own announcement notes that missions will let players choose the squadron's fighter jet composition and issue commands to wingmen in combat.

The date replaces the ratings-board guesswork

The October date gives Ace Combat fans the official answer that was missing after a recent PEGI listing briefly raised questions about the sequel's timing. That listing mentioned a May 30 pre-release date, but Bandai Namco had not moved beyond a general 2026 window at the time.

Now the calendar is clearer. Bandai Namco lists October 2 as the standard launch date, while the PlayStation Blog says the regional timing works out as October 1 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET and October 2 at 12 AM CEST / 7 AM JST. PlayStation's post lists Deluxe Edition early access from September 28 at 3 PM PDT, while Bandai Namco's North American announcement lists September 29. The difference appears to come down to regional timing, so buyers should check their own storefront before planning around early access.

The date also puts Ace Combat 8 in a busier stretch than its genre niche might suggest. Flight combat is no longer a crowded mainstream lane, but Ace Combat has enough legacy weight that a firm October slot gives fans a real target after years without a new numbered entry.

Preorders include Belkan War and a seasonal pass

Bandai Namco is using the release date push to lay out the first wave of editions and bonuses. All digital preorders include Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, the 2006 PlayStation 2 entry that has long been one of the series' most important Strangereal stories, plus the F-14A aircraft for use in Ace Combat 8.

The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, three days of early access, a customizable cosmetic set and a Premium Ace Pass Plus Voucher. Bandai Namco says the Premium Ace Pass is the series' first, granting an instant unlock of 30 Ace Pass levels and access to a season-long track of bonus rewards, including aircraft skins, avatar costumes and the playable ADFX-02 MORGAN -PIXY additional aircraft.

There is also a Bandai Namco Store-exclusive Joker Flight Pack with the Deluxe Edition content, two LP vinyl records, a 200-page ACES at WAR HISTORY 2029 artbook, a collectible slipcase and a slipmat.

The publisher says additional online multiplayer modes will be revealed between now and launch. For now, the confirmed pitch is a new Strangereal campaign, squadron-led missions, more than 30 aircraft and an October date across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
