Diablo Immortal is crossing over with StarCraft in a limited-time event that brings Zerg, Protoss and Kerrigan-inspired rewards into Sanctuary. Blizzard says the collaboration begins May 13 and runs through June 10, with new activities, cosmetics, familiars and a crossover Legendary Gem tied to the event.

The update is framed around the Battle for Beyond and Aeon of Stars event. It is the latest major licensed event for Diablo Immortal, following recent crossover content such as Slayer's Reign with DOOM: The Dark Ages, but this one pulls from another Blizzard universe instead of an outside franchise.

StarCraft invades Sanctuary

According to Blizzard's official announcement, logging in during the Aeon of Stars event will grant three rewards: a StarCraft-inspired avatar frame, the Baneboil 2-Star Legendary Gem and a weapon transmog inspired by Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades.

Players can earn more rewards through Koprulu Arsenal progression by completing daily activities, defeating monsters and tackling limited-time dungeons. The reward track includes a StarCraft-inspired portal, stickers, additional Kerrigan-themed weapon transmogs, Legendary Gear with selectable affixes, Set Items with selectable affixes, Bound Empowered Immortal Keys and Immortal Keys.

Blizzard says the event will also include four weeks of reward cycles, giving regular Diablo Immortal players a reason to check in beyond the launch day login bundle.

Tal'Darim bosses, Infested Rifts and a Kerrigan market

One of the crossover's headline additions is Dark Ascension, a limited-time encounter that brings Protoss enemies into Diablo Immortal. Parties of up to four adventurers can fight Tal'Darim Templar and an Ascended Archon, with challenge tickets required to enter and exclusive rewards attached to the activity.

Infested Rifts bring the Zerg side of StarCraft into Elder Rifts. During the event, players may find a unique Elder Rift affix that fills the run with Zerg enemies and a Feral Hydralisk boss. Players also gain access to Psionic Storm inside the rift, creating a damage field that appears on the ground.

Completing the special Elder Rift can award exclusive Legendary weapons with affixes that cannot be transferred. Blizzard warns that if one of these items is destroyed, its essence cannot be obtained again.

Conqueror mode is also getting a StarCraft variant for the event. Players will choose a faction before each match, then activate faction-themed shrines for orbs tied to Terran, Zerg or Protoss bonuses. Stim Pack increases attack speed and movement speed by 30% for eight seconds, Poison adds damage-over-time projectiles to attacks and Shields grants a temporary protective barrier. The mode will also feature weekly faction leaderboards.

The new Baneboil Legendary Gem leans directly into the Zerg fantasy. Dealing damage can summon Banelings that swarm nearby enemies and explode, covering targets in corrosive acid that deals damage over time and makes them take increased damage from the player. Blizzard says participating in Dark Ascension gives players a chance to acquire the gem, with a maximum of one from that activity.

The Phantom Market will add a Kerrigan-themed look that lets players embody the Queen of Blades. Two StarCraft-inspired familiar skins are coming as well, based on the Protoss Immortal and the Zergling.

Alongside the crossover content, Blizzard says Diablo Immortal is getting a permanent Conqueror optimization. All players will have access to all eight gear slots, and anyone who has not unlocked the final two slots will have default gear equipped there, with final item details still to come.
