Blizzard has updated Diablo IV's 2.6 patch notes with a broad set of gameplay changes, balance updates and bug fixes, led by a significant reduction to Bloodsoaked Sigil difficulty. The studio said the change is meant to help players who have unlocked Bloodsoaked content actually complete those runs at a more reasonable rate.

The patch also adds a stash and blacksmith to Kael Rills' Butcher shop, cutting down on trips back and forth to Gea Kul when players need to salvage or store gear. In the Fields of Hatred, instances of the Butcher now have significantly more health.

Bloodsoaked content gets easier to finish

Bloodsoaked Sigils are the clearest player-facing target in this update. Blizzard said it had received feedback that many players could not reasonably complete Bloodsoaked Sigils after unlocking them, so the difficulty has been lowered significantly.

That matters because Season of Slaughter leans heavily on harder, blood-themed versions of existing Diablo IV activities. The 2.6 notes also highlight Bloodstained Sigils for stronger Nightmare Dungeons, Lair Bosses and Infernal Hordes, while Bloodsoaked Sigils sit above that as a tougher test.

Diablo IV Season of Slaughter gameplay featuring the Butcher
Patch 2.6 adjusts several Season of Slaughter systems, including Bloodsoaked Sigils and Butcher-related activities.

Several Season of Slaughter bugs were fixed as well. Blizzard addressed an invisible Butcher attack on low graphics settings, a local co-op camera issue when both players turned into the Butcher and a problem where not all party members transformed correctly when entering a Slaughterhouse.

Paladin, Spiritborn and boss fights are adjusted

The 2.6 notes include a large Paladin balance pass. Holy Light Aura now clarifies that it gains damage from attack speed, Heaven's Fury Triplicate base damage increased from 36% to 56% and Sunbrand's damage increased from 30-50% to 60-100%. Word of Sacrifice's health cost went up from 15% to 35%, while multiple Paladin tooltips, Legendary Aspects, Unique items and Paragon interactions were fixed.

Spiritborn also received targeted changes, including an In-Fighter Legendary Paragon Node bonus increase from 30% to 45% and a Bitter Medicine Poisoning damage bonus increase from 60% to 80%. The Drive Legendary Paragon Node now has a shorter duration, higher maximum stacks and clearer tooltip wording.

Boss Stagger mechanics were also reworked. Bosses now build Stagger roughly twice as fast, Stagger progress no longer decays and bosses gain a 20-second period after being staggered where they are five times harder to stagger again. Each additional party member also raises the Stagger threshold by 50%.

The update lands alongside Blizzard's broader Diablo IV roadmap activity, including the recent Lord of Hatred developer stream plans that focused on expansion systems and upcoming seasonal updates.

Tower runs and quality-of-life systems get attention

The Tower received new monster types, new tilesets, additional bosses and harder-hitting boss encounters. Blizzard also reduced the number of enemies needed to complete a floor, added a "Jump to Me" leaderboard button and introduced an end-of-run screen that summarizes key stats.

On the quality-of-life side, traversal speed now scales with movement speed, using a traversal resets mount cooldown and non-objective doors in Nightmare Dungeons now open automatically. Repeatable actions such as Town Portal also channel faster, with channeling times now maxing out at .5 seconds.

The patch notes include several item and reward adjustments too. Bloodstained activities now grant better rewards, including guaranteed Bloodied and Ancestral items from Bloodsoaked bosses, while Mythic Prankster Nightmare Dungeon rewards were reduced from five Mythic Uniques to one. The Incense of Vitality has also been removed.

Blizzard fixed multiple accessibility issues tied to Diablo IV's Screen Reader, including problems in the wardrobe, Season Rank rewards, the Social screen on controller and the Store page. The studio also listed various stability, visual, performance and audio improvements across the update.
