Diablo Immortal's April update is a systems-heavy release, led by the debut of Auto-Battle and a full new set of Legendary Affixes for every class. The update also changes Battleground matchmaking, adds Challenge Rift Season 18 and adjusts several PvP systems across Sanctuary.
Blizzard says maintenance begins April 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. PDT for Oceania, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe servers. Americas servers follow on April 29 from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. PDT. Most of the update will be live once maintenance ends, with later-dated features called out separately.
Auto-Battle arrives with weekly limits
The headline feature is Auto-Battle, which can be accessed through the Blessing of Legends popup. When enabled, a player's character stays in the current area, roams nearby and fights enemies automatically.
Blizzard is positioning the feature as a more casual farming option rather than a replacement for active play. The studio says Auto-Battle is deliberately less efficient than manual farming, and some builds may perform much worse under automated control than they would in a player's hands.
The system unlocks at level 60 and can run for up to one hour at a time. Players can use a maximum of 24 Auto-Battle hours per week, and the character will not automatically salvage gear once bags are full. The update also adds settings for automatic Health Potion use, including a Life Threshold option under the Controller section.
It is a notable change for Diablo Immortal because farming efficiency is a major part of the daily loop. The game has kept up a steady live-service cadence around events and class changes, including recent crossover content like Slayer's Reign, but Auto-Battle touches the basic rhythm of how some players grind between bigger activities.
Every class gets new Legendary Affixes
The update adds new Legendary Affixes for Wizard, Barbarian, Monk, Demon Hunter, Crusader, Necromancer, Blood Knight, Tempest and Druid. Blizzard says the displayed values can still change before release, and the new items drop in Inferno XII difficulty and above.
Many of the affixes are built around stronger class identity or more specialized play. Wizards get options that reshape Arcane Wind, Ice Armor, Lightning Nova and Teleport. Barbarians pick up new Hammer of the Ancients, Chained Spear, Demoralize and Wrath of the Berserker effects. Druids receive several Werebear-focused pieces built around shields, control immunity and Primal Power.
Several affixes also lean into PvP utility. Some effects prevent Dash Skills, remove harmful control effects, grant immunity to knockback or boost survivability through shields and damage reduction. That overlaps with the update's broader push to make competitive play more structured and less burst-heavy.
Battleground and Rite of Exile changes target PvP
Battleground is adding Captain Selection to improve team balance when all matched players are Legend rank or above. In those Legendary Duel matches, the two highest-rated players become captains and draft three teammates each, with 15 seconds for each pick before the system auto-assigns a player.
Legendary Duel matches also avoid stat compression, while all players gain additional damage reduction. Players who leave during the selection phase will be treated as refusing the match and may receive penalties. The feature applies to Battleground Classic mode, Assault.
Blizzard is also expanding cross-region Battleground matchmaking for SEA, Japan, Korea and Oceania. Battlegrounds, Assault, Convoy and Tower War are getting an overall damage reduction increase equal to 15% compared with the current live experience.
Rite of Exile is getting changes too. A hidden matching system will be added, with Immortal leaders able to reveal hidden matches by spending scouting points earned through weekly duties. In Week 7, the number of Rite of Exile victories required drops from four to three, which Blizzard says should open the door for more teams to become Immortal.
Challenge Rift Season 18 runs from May 4 through June 17, adding 50 new floors and ending at Floor 800 with 61,759 CR. Floors 731 through 750 will also be lowered, starting with Floor 731 at 58,018 CR and scaling up to 59,968 at Floor 750.
The Cycle of the Path of Ancestry Battle Pass goes live on May 7 with an exclusive Legendary Gem and other resources. The Legendary Gem drop pool refreshes on April 29, letting players choose a designated Legendary Gem for a 50% drop chance when obtaining a gem of the same rarity. The update also lets 2-Star crossover Legendary Gems, including The Crucible, use Telluric Pearls during Progressive Upgrade.
Smaller improvements include a new teleport station on Bilefen Island near Namari Temple, a Vibrant visual filter in Graphics Settings, reduced visual clutter for some skill effects and a fix for side-quest items that could not be destroyed.
