The Pokemon Company and Aardman have shown the clearest look yet at *Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu*, including new key art, Galar story details and a 2027 release window for the stop-motion animated project.

The details came through The Pokemon Company International's official press site after an Aardman panel at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The panel included Phil Rynda, Director of Original Animation at The Pokemon Company International, and Sarah Cox, Chief Creative Director at Aardman.

The newly shared art puts Sirfetch'd and Pichu in the spotlight, with Pichu perched on Sirfetch'd's leek as the pair stand against a wide Galar landscape. The official synopsis frames the series as a journey through the region, with the two Pokemon setting out to help and protect others while their missions keep going sideways.

That Galar setting is a tidy fit for Aardman. The region was introduced in *Pokemon Sword and Shield* and is heavily inspired by the United Kingdom, while Aardman is based in Bristol and is best known for stop-motion work including *Wallace & Gromit*, *Chicken Run* and *Shaun the Sheep*.

The Annecy panel also gave attendees a look at never-before-seen pilot footage and in-development production materials, though those clips have not been released publicly. The Pokemon Company said the project will lean into a British sense of humor, with Aardman's handmade stop-motion style shaping how Sirfetch'd and Pichu move through Galar.

Cox described the show as "a hand-crafted spin" on Pokemon, saying director Tom Parkinson and the team are using stop-frame animation for comedic storytelling around the two leads.

"Aardman are delighted to bring the vivid physicality of Stop Frame animation into the Pokemon world," Cox said. "Director Tom Parkinson and team have created a hand-crafted spin on the wonderful Pokemon we all know and love with comedic storytelling that celebrates the quirks, eccentricities and charms of our heroes as they explore Galar on a delightfully offbeat quest."

*Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu* is currently slated for 2027. The Pokemon Company has not announced an exact premiere date, episode count or streaming platform for the series.
