Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launches July 9 for Xbox Series X|S, bringing Ubisoft's pirate adventure back with rebuilt visuals, updated stealth and a reworked combat system.

The new version revisits Edward Kenway's Caribbean story, where piracy, Assassins, Templars and mythical artifacts collide across port cities and open seas. In an Xbox Wire post, Mike Nelson described the remake as a ground-up rebuild of the original Black Flag with ray tracing, higher resolution textures and Dolby Atmos support.

Black Flag Resynced is due tomorrow on Xbox Series X|S, after Ubisoft shared launch timing and final upgrades. The Xbox Store lists a Deluxe Edition containing the base game, the Master Assassin Character Pack and the Master Assassin Naval Pack.

Combat, stealth and sailing get another pass

The remake keeps the core setup of Black Flag: Kenway gains access to the Jackdaw early, then pushes into Caribbean exploration, ship upgrades, side activities and the main Assassin's Creed story. The Xbox Wire write-up says players can reach the broader loop within the first few hours, after some early critical-path missions unlock key weapons and systems.

Combat now leans on parries, dodges and finishing moves. Enemy attacks flash blue for parries and red for dodges, while difficulty sliders let players tune the challenge. Ubisoft previously detailed Black Flag Resynced's combat changes as part of a broader remake pass.

Stealth has changed too. Instead of immediately failing when spotted, players can recover from mistakes and fight their way out. Failed sneaking attempts can turn into fights instead of instant restarts.

The Jackdaw sails into naval combat in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Naval combat remains one of Black Flag Resynced's main hooks.

The Jackdaw still gets a major role. Black Flag Resynced keeps cannon-heavy encounters, boarding actions, ship upgrades and a reputation system, with dynamic weather adding waterspouts and rougher battlefield conditions. Nelson compared the result more to an arcade-like naval combat game than a slower simulation.

The remake adds new material around Blackbeard, new cities and more sea shanties to collect. Ubisoft has also shown new missions and an endgame chapter, giving the Xbox launch extra story and exploration content beyond the 2013 campaign.
