Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch for Xbox Series X|S on July 9, giving Edward Kenway's pirate adventure a current-gen rebuild with new visual tech, reworked gameplay and extra content.
Ubisoft describes the remake as a faithful rebuild of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag made in the latest version of the Anvil engine. The Xbox version will support ray tracing and Dolby Atmos, with seamless environments, dynamic weather and no loading screens as players sail across the Caribbean.
The Xbox details arrive alongside Ubisoft's PS5 launch breakdown for Black Flag Resynced, but this latest update also lays out the Xbox Series X|S launch timing and Microsoft Store preorder offer.
Edward Kenway's return gets more than sharper visuals
Black Flag Resynced is bringing back original Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan for new scenes and additional missions. Ubisoft is not detailing those missions yet, but the publisher says the new material is being added alongside fresh scenes tied to the remake.
On the tech side, Ubisoft Singapore used the Anvil Atmos system to build a dynamic weather model for the Caribbean. That means winds, waves, storms and calmer stretches at sea will shift during exploration, a meaningful upgrade for a game where the Jackdaw is almost as important as Edward himself.

Combat, stealth and tailing missions are changing
Ubisoft says Edward's ground movement has been rebuilt to feel more fluid and responsive. Combat is being reworked around more forceful takedowns, new parrying mechanics and quicker rope dart and pistol options.
Stealth is also getting one of the most practical changes returning players could ask for. Edward can now crouch at any time, which affects enemy visibility at medium and long range. Tailing missions have been softened too. If players are spotted during one in Black Flag Resynced, the mission can continue instead of immediately desynchronizing.
The remake also adds an Observe mode for finding quest objectives, clues and enemies, plus ziplines spread through cities for faster movement from rooftops to street level.
The Jackdaw gets new officers, weapons and shanties
Naval combat and exploration are being fully revamped. The Jackdaw is getting additional secondary weapons, while enemy ships and factions now have alliances and enemies that affect behavior and loadouts.
Players can also bring a pet aboard, recruit three officers and complete unique side quests tied to those officers. Each officer adds a new gameplay feature to naval combat. Ubisoft is adding 10 new sea shanties as well, alongside the songs returning players remember from the original game.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will be sold on the Microsoft Store in a $59.99 Standard Edition and a $69.99 Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes the Master Assassin Character Pack with a sword, pistol, trinket and Edward costume, plus the Master Assassin Naval Pack with sail, pet, crew attire, wheel, figurehead and hull trim items.
In the United States, preordering the Deluxe Edition on the Microsoft Store also includes a promotional $5 Xbox digital gift card and an Assassin's Creed Resources Pack with materials and trade goods for an early boost.
