Ubisoft has detailed how Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will handle its on-screen interface, confirming that the remaster will include a cleaner, more contextual HUD with presets and individual toggles for players who want anything from full feedback to an almost screen-free adventure.

In an official deep dive, Ubisoft says Resynced will let players choose between Default, Simple, Minimal and Disabled HUD presets. Default keeps most information active, Simple trims back some reminders and highlights, Minimal keeps only essentials such as Edward's health, interaction prompts and Jackdaw cannon aiming arcs, while Disabled removes nearly all HUD elements.

The preset system is only the starting point. Ubisoft says every HUD element can also be enabled or disabled individually, covering areas such as combat feedback, stealth awareness, blood effects, visual effects and in-game notifications. The pitch is that newer players can keep guidance on while learning the remaster's systems, then peel away more of the interface once combat, stealth and naval play feel familiar.

Ubisoft says Black Flag Resynced lets players pare back or disable much of the HUD.

The combat section is the most important part of the update. On default settings, enemies can show health and defense bars tied to Resynced's reworked ground combat. Ubisoft describes defense as an enemy's ability to withstand pressure, with parries, strong attacks and sustained offense able to break that defense and create takedown openings.

Ubisoft is also trying to make those systems readable without forcing bars onto the screen. The studio says an enemy's hat or headpiece can fall off when their defense is broken, giving players a visual tell if they choose to remove health and defense indicators. Ubisoft stresses that Black Flag Resynced remains an action-adventure game, with no levels, gear scores or progression gates attached to those optional bars.

For returning Black Flag players, that balance is the key detail. The remaster is adding clearer information around new combat behavior, but the interface can be stripped back for a more cinematic Caribbean voyage once players are comfortable reading animations, spacing and timing.

The HUD deep dive follows earlier Resynced rollout details, including Xbox date and upgrade news and the PS5 disc install requirement. Ubisoft says more dedicated articles on combat, stealth and naval gameplay are still coming.
