Assassin's Creed Shadows is closing its latest post-launch chapter with more than a date on the calendar. Title Update 1.1.11 arrives on June 16 at 14:00 UTC, and Ubisoft's release notes confirm a final free story quest, a new endgame activity and several crossover rewards tied to the Animus Hub.

The headline addition is Black Tides, a new quest that brings two elite Templars known as the Black Cross to Japan. Ubisoft says the mission is meant to close Naoe and Yasuke's story, but it will not unlock for everyone immediately. Players need to finish the main story, A Critical Encounter and A Puzzlement before starting it.

Domains gives Shadows a final endgame push

The biggest playable addition in the update is Domains, an Animus activity aimed at players who have already reached level 30. It sends players into five new gameplay simulations spread across 10 challenge levels, with higher difficulties adding modifiers that force different loadouts and combat choices.

Domains also brings its own progression loop. MOD, an Assassin hacker, runs the activity through a separate shop, currency and progression tree. The rewards include new and remixed outfits, weapons, trinkets and engravings, and Ubisoft says the Domain-exclusive items will not be sold through the store or exchange.

That makes 1.1.11 feel less like a routine clean-up patch and more like a sendoff for players still building out Naoe and Yasuke. Shadows already had a substantial post-launch run, including the Claws of Awaji expansion, but Domains gives endgame players a repeatable challenge after the last story quest is finished.

Black Flag Resynced crossover rewards skip Switch 2

Title Update 1.1.11 also adds two Animus Hub Projects called Riptides and Undertow. These let players unlock themed outfits, weapons, trinkets and other rewards for both Shadows and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft's next major Assassin's Creed release.

There is one platform caveat. Ubisoft says the Riptides and Undertow Projects will not be available on Nintendo Switch 2 because they include Black Flag Resynced crossover content, and Black Flag Resynced is not releasing for Nintendo's system.

The update's download sizes vary sharply by platform. Ubisoft lists 26.1 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 10.01 GB on PlayStation 5, 9.5 GB on Nintendo Switch 2, 21.69 GB on PC, 10 GB on Steam and 9 GB on Mac. The patch also adds a new Animus Rift called Horizon, although players need to finish the previous two Animus Rifts before accessing it.

Beyond the new content, the release notes cover a long list of gameplay, UI, gear and perk fixes. Notable changes include boss armor-destruction abilities being reduced to half effectiveness, more seasonal Corrupted Castles, saved pins and world markers when traveling between Japan and Awaji and Nintendo Switch 2 handheld GPU performance improvements.
