Monster Hunter Wilds is making one of its most live-service-like features easier to access solo. Update 1.042 arrives on August 4 and lets players accept all 25 currently available Event Quests and Challenge Quests offline, according to Capcom's official patch notes.

That is a practical change for hunters who mostly play away from multiplayer or unreliable connections. Event Quests have been where Capcom parks some of Wilds' more specific reward chases, including tougher fights, special equipment materials, armor rewards, pendants and challenge-style hunts. Until this patch, accepting those quests required an online connection even when the fight itself suited solo play.

Capcom says the offline-eligible list includes Special Assignment: Slay Gogmazios, Freedom from Solitude, Event: The Dreamer's Stairway and more. The limited-time Event Quest Just What the Doctor Ordered is also becoming a permanent addition and can be played offline. On the Quest Counter side, available event quests will now be shown at the top of the list, which should cut down on menu digging when the rotation changes.

The weekly schedule is not being replaced. Capcom's Event Quest Schedule still separates limited-time quests from permanent Event Quests and Challenge Quests, so the patch is about offline access, not making every rotated activity available forever. Players will still need to keep an eye on what is live during a given week.

Update 1.042 also adds support for transferring save data from the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo. Capcom says players can transfer that data by launching the full game while no full-version save data exists. The update is listed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, with a required download of about 3.5 GB on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, about 3.5 GB on Steam or roughly 5.5 GB with the High Resolution Texture Pack.

The rest of the patch is a smaller fixes pass. Capcom lists fixes for a duplicated Training Barrel Pop-up Camp gear option, visual issues on Guardian Fulgur Anjanath, an Arch-tempered Arkveld attack effect issue, some Sword & Shield trap placement behavior, occasional missing audio and stuttering tied to a frame-rate cap with NVIDIA DLSS enabled.

The timing gives Wilds another quality-of-life step after Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance as the game's 2027 expansion. Ascendance is still the larger future milestone, but update 1.042 addresses a more immediate friction point: letting offline players reach the quest content that has been carrying a lot of Wilds' repeat-play rewards.
