Crimson Moon now has a release date. ProbablyMonsters' gothic action RPG launches September 1 on PlayStation 5 and PC, turning the studio's dark fantasy debut from a late-2026 promise into a game that is only a few weeks away.

PlayStation published a new date reveal trailer for the PS5 version, while the PlayStation Blog announcement confirms the September 1 launch date, $19.99 standard edition, $29.99 Deluxe Edition and PlayStation 5 Pro support through upgraded PSSR. The Steam page also lists September 1, 2026 as the planned PC release date.

Crimson Moon date reveal trailer
PlayStation's Crimson Moon trailer gives ProbablyMonsters' gothic action RPG a September 1 release date on PS5.

Crimson Moon casts players as a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel warrior fighting to reclaim the fallen city of Gildenarch from demons, undead, vampires and Hellgrowth abominations. ProbablyMonsters describes it as a gothic high renaissance action-adventure RPG, but the pitch is sharper than a standard story campaign. It is structured around replayable missions, a home base called the Church and escalating hunts that end in boss encounters with the Dead Gods.

The new blog post puts extra emphasis on two-player online co-op. Every hunt can be played solo or with one other player, with encounters scaling between the two formats. Co-op teams share a communal life pool, so reviving a partner keeps the run alive while repeated deaths push the mission closer to failure. That setup should matter in a melee action game where survival depends on timing, build choices and knowing when to bail out a friend instead of chasing damage.

The co-op angle also helps separate Crimson Moon from the crowded lane of dark fantasy action games. Souls-inspired melee, grotesque enemies and ruined cathedrals are familiar territory now, but a lower-priced AA game with online duo hunts is aiming at a slightly different rhythm. It sounds closer to a compact, repeatable night of boss runs and gear chasing than a 70-hour solo epic.

ProbablyMonsters had already announced Crimson Moon for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store in an official June press release, with a September 2026 window attached. Today's PlayStation trailer narrows that timing to September 1 for PS5, while Steam independently shows the same date for PC. The public materials checked for this story did not show a matching live Xbox store date, so players on Xbox should treat the September window as the confirmed platform information until ProbablyMonsters or Microsoft updates it directly.

The Deluxe Edition includes the Ceremonial Armor Set, the Axe of the Gods and access to a planned post-launch content expansion. Standard Edition players will be able to upgrade later for $10, according to the PlayStation Blog post. ProbablyMonsters is also giving every PlayStation player the Sonai Magistrate Armor Set at launch.

Crimson Moon is developed and published by ProbablyMonsters, the independent company founded by former Bungie president and CEO Harold Ryan. Its September 1 date puts the game into a busy autumn runway, but the price, co-op focus and short wait give action RPG players a clear reason to keep it on the radar before the larger holiday releases start arriving.
