A reported Best Buy affiliate email has kicked off a new round of GTA 6 speculation, with the message apparently listing a physical pre-order campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI from May 18 to May 21. If accurate, it would put one of the biggest unanswered retail details around Rockstar's next game only days away.

The claim began circulating after streamer FrogboyX1Gaming showed what appeared to be a Best Buy affiliate message during a livestream. The email, also described by GamesRadar and Wccftech, referred to a "GTA 6 Pre-Order (Physical Game)" promotion and a 5% commission window running between May 18 and May 21, 2026. That does not prove pre-orders will open on May 18, but it does suggest Best Buy affiliates may have been briefed on a campaign tied to physical copies.

Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive and Best Buy have not publicly confirmed the email. That caveat is important, since convincing-looking retail and marketing leaks can be faked, misread or sent early with placeholder timing. This one is more specific than the usual GTA 6 rumor, though, because it includes a named retailer, a short campaign window and an affiliate commission detail.

Why May 18 Is Getting So Much Attention

The dates line up with an already important week for Rockstar's parent company. Take-Two's investor calendar lists its Q4 2026 earnings conference call for May 21 at 8:30 PM UTC, the same day the alleged Best Buy campaign window ends. That has made fans wonder whether Rockstar could be preparing a pricing, edition or pre-order reveal before the call.

There is still a big difference between a retailer affiliate campaign and an official Rockstar announcement. A Best Buy campaign could relate to a planned listing, a placeholder promotion or an early internal schedule that changes before going live. It also appears to be focused on physical copies, so it does not necessarily explain when digital pre-orders would open on PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store.

The leak lands after Take-Two's leadership recently said GTA 6 marketing would begin soon, which made every possible trailer, price and pre-order clue feel louder than usual. Pricing is another reason the rumor has spread quickly, especially after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA 6's price would need to feel fair to players.

Rockstar Has Only Confirmed the Release Date and Platforms

Rockstar's official GTA 6 site still lists the game as coming November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page also confirms the Vice City and Leonida setting, with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos at the center of the story. There is still no confirmed PC release date, edition breakdown or price.

That leaves pre-orders as one of the next major beats in the game's rollout. For a wider rundown of confirmed details, trailers and platform information, our GTA 6 guide tracks what Rockstar has actually announced so far.

If the Best Buy email is legitimate, May 18 could finally bring the first look at how Rockstar and retailers plan to sell Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of its November launch. Until Rockstar, Best Buy or Take-Two says something directly, the date should be treated as a credible-looking but unconfirmed leak.
