The Epic Games Store's weekly free-game section has its July 16 handoff set: *Luto* and *Echo Generation: Midnight Edition* are scheduled to be free from July 16 to July 23. The pair normally lists at $44.98 combined, with *Luto* priced at $19.99 and *Echo Generation: Midnight Edition* priced at $24.99.
The next rotation will replace *Nova Lands* and *Tattoo Tycoon*, which are free from July 9 to July 16. As with Epic's usual PC giveaways, players only need to claim the games during the free window to keep them in their library.
Luto gives the week a horror lead
*Luto* is the sharper mood shift in the July 16 lineup. The first-person psychological horror game from Broken Bird Games and Selecta Play launched in July 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Its story follows a character trapped inside their own home, using shifting rooms, surreal spaces, sound and environmental puzzles to explore grief, anxiety and fear of loss.
That makes it a stronger pick for players who want a compact horror game without combat taking over the whole experience. The official launch materials describe *Luto* as a narrative-driven exploration game, with secrets, symbolism and sensory scares replacing guns or chase-heavy action.
Echo Generation brings the RPG contrast
The other half of the week, *Echo Generation: Midnight Edition*, comes from Canadian indie studio Cococucumber. It is a turn-based adventure about kids investigating strange events in a 1990s hometown, mixing exploration, quests, pet companions, comic-book upgrades and active-time battles.
The Midnight Edition is not just a straight reissue of the 2021 game. Cococucumber's own launch notes for the enhanced version list fast travel, a quest journal, rebalanced combat, new status effects, camera tilt and zoom controls, upgraded visuals, mouse and keyboard support, wider controller support and 12 new languages.
The result is a cleaner split than many Epic Games Store free weeks: one unsettling horror game and one nostalgic RPG-flavored adventure. Anyone interested in the current giveaway still has until July 16 to claim *Nova Lands* and *Tattoo Tycoon* before Epic moves to the new pair.
