Lords of the Fallen 2 is no longer tied to an Epic Games Store-only PC plan, after CI Games and Epic Games ended the publishing term sheet behind that exclusivity arrangement.
In a May 18 investor report, CI Games said it entered into a separation agreement with Epic on April 14. The agreement releases CI Games from obligations under a binding publishing term sheet the two companies signed on June 14, 2024.
That older 2024 term sheet granted Epic exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the Lords of the Fallen sequel on PC for the game's entire product life cycle. CI Games kept the rights to the game and series, along with publishing and distribution rights on other platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The practical result is simple: Lords of the Fallen 2 can now appear on PC storefronts beyond the Epic Games Store when it launches. CI Games has not announced a Steam page or a revised PC storefront list yet, so this is not the same as a formal Steam launch confirmation.
CI Games says Epic services are not affected
CI Games did not give a public business reason for ending the term sheet. The company said it delayed disclosure because immediate publication could have prejudiced its legitimate interests, adding that the agreement was conditional and could not be disclosed before it entered into force.
The separation does not end every Epic-related connection. CI Games said its ongoing cooperation with Epic around Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services, Epic account services and participation in the Fortnite ecosystem will continue under separate agreements.
Lords of the Fallen 2 is still targeting a 2026 release. The 2024 filing listed the sequel as being in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well as PC, so the deal change is mainly about PC storefront availability.
The shift arrives as CI Games tries to carry momentum from the 2023 Lords of the Fallen reboot into a cleaner sequel launch. Game Developer reported that the 2023 game had topped 2.5 million sales worldwide by March 20, 2026 and had recouped its $80.45 million development and marketing budget.
PC storefront exclusivity remains a sensitive subject for parts of the audience, especially when a sequel skips Steam at launch. CI Games has removed that restriction before Lords of the Fallen 2's release, but the publisher still has to confirm exactly where the game will be sold on PC.
