Discord Nitro is getting a new gaming perk, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers are next in line for Discord extras.

Xbox and Discord have announced an expanded partnership that adds a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass to Discord Nitro in eligible regions. The same deal will also work in the other direction later this month, when eligible Xbox Game Pass subscribers begin receiving new Discord Nitro benefits.

The Game Pass addition is part of Discord's new Nitro Rewards program. In Discord's announcement, the company says Nitro members now get access to a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass with a library of more than 50 PC and console games, including Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2 and Grounded. Discord says the starter edition also includes 10 hours of cloud gaming, with more games to be added periodically.

Xbox framed the move as another step in its long-running Discord partnership, which has already brought Discord voice chat and live streaming support to Xbox consoles. In Xbox's announcement, the company says Discord users will also see easier ways to jump into Game Pass games from Discord activity and game streams. When a friend is playing something available through Game Pass, users can look for a Play button and choose Xbox Game Pass to start playing.

The second half of the partnership is aimed at existing Game Pass subscribers. Starting later this month, eligible subscribers will receive Discord Nitro benefits that include 250 Discord Orbs each month, 1.2x extra Orbs from completing Quests and automatically applied Discord Shop discounts.

Discord says Nitro Rewards are rolling out now and will become available to all Nitro members over the coming weeks in eligible regions. Xbox has not yet detailed exactly which Game Pass plans qualify for the upcoming Nitro benefits, saying more information will be shared through its official channels.

The update is not a new Game Pass tier announcement in the usual sense, but it does make Game Pass more visible inside Discord, where a lot of PC and console players already organize sessions, watch friends stream and decide what to play next.
