Before that date appeared, Sony and Insomniac had only committed to Fall 2026. The specific date gives PlayStation one of its biggest first-party releases of the year, though pre-order editions, price and deluxe content have not been announced at the time of writing.

Is Marvel's Wolverine only on PS5?

The September 2025 PlayStation Blog post says Logan will have to tear information out of enemies trying to stop him, while his rapid healing factor keeps him in the fight. Liam McIntyre plays Wolverine, with Insomniac saying he taps into the character's rage, pain and emotional nuance.

The game is being described as a globe-spanning thriller. Confirmed locations include Madripoor, the frosted wilderness of Canada and Tokyo's narrow city streets. Madripoor is especially meaningful for Wolverine fans because the island nation has deep comic-book ties to Logan, espionage stories and the seedier corners of Marvel's mutant world.

Which Marvel characters are confirmed?

Logan is the lead, but he is not alone.

Insomniac and PlayStation have confirmed Mystique and Omega Red as familiar faces in the game. The Reavers are also confirmed as an enemy faction, and the 2025 trailer ends with a prototype of an iconic purple robot. Sony does not name it directly in the blog post, but the visual is clearly designed to make X-Men fans think about Sentinels.

The important caveat is that not every appearance tells us a character's full role. PlayStation says some characters will fight alongside Logan and others will attack him. Mystique, Omega Red, the Reavers and the robot tease are confirmed to appear, but the full cast list, boss lineup and story alliances are still under wraps.

Sony and Marvel are clearly presenting Marvel's Wolverine as violent, but the final US rating still needs a careful read.

The PlayStation Store page currently points players to ESRB information and notes that online interactions are not rated by the ESRB.
