Warhammer Skulls returned for its 10th anniversary with a packed Xbox-focused slate, covering new game reveals, fresh release dates, live updates and a Microsoft Store sale with discounts of up to 90% during the event.
The official Xbox recap covers a lot of ground, but the headline for players is the spread of Warhammer releases now live or newly dated. Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II is available today on Xbox, following its earlier Skulls reveal in 2024, with its launch trailer covering both the Necron and Adeptus Mechanicus sides of the story. Xbox also says the game marks the first appearance of the Votann in a Warhammer 40,000 video game.
The showcase added new projects as well. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate: Deathwatch premiered with the Deathwatch replacing the Grey Knights as protagonists, plus multiple Xenos factions shown in the trailer. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster also had its world premiere, introducing a stealth-action side-scroller starring a Skaven assassin in the Mortal Realms. Deathmaster is planned for Xbox in 2027.
Space Marine 2, Darktide and Boltgun 2 get fresh details
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 received the free Purgation update, adding a new PvE level, battle barge Practice mode, new weapons and cosmetics. It launched alongside the Iron Hands Chapter Pack for Season Pass 2 owners.
Darktide players have a date for the next playable class. The Skitarii of the Adeptus Mechanicus is coming to Xbox and PC on June 23, expanding the co-op shooter’s roster of Rejects. Darktide is also now available through Game Pass Essentials.
Boltgun 2 was another major Skulls fixture, with extended gameplay shown during the showcase. Alanah Pearce, who hosted the event, is voicing Nyra Veyrath in the sequel, joining returning Boltgun character Malum Caedo. If you want a closer look at the sequel’s setup, our previous coverage of Boltgun 2’s Chaos enemies and Krieg allies breaks down another recent reveal.
Rogue Trader DLC, console packs and Free Play Days
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s third DLC, The Infinite Museion, now has a June 11 Xbox date. The DLC adds a new companion and involves a Necron antagonist working against the player’s retinue. The base game is available on Xbox and PC, included with Xbox Game Pass and part of the Warhammer Skulls Free Play Days lineup.
The event also brought another gameplay look at Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, the console launch of Rust’s Death Korps of Krieg-inspired Warhammer 40,000 Pack, the Bhashiva Character Pack for Total War: Warhammer 3 and Ultramarines content for Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector. Talisman Digital 5th Edition is getting a new player-versus-game survival challenge, while a Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 collaboration has been announced as in the works.
On the Xbox subscription side, Free Play Days is opening up several Warhammer games this weekend, including Space Marine: Master Crafted Edition, Rogue Trader, Battlesector, Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters and Inquisitor: Martyr. Xbox also listed Rogue Trader, Space Marine 2, Space Marine: Master Crafted Edition and Darktide as Xbox Play Anywhere titles, with Warhammer Survivors and Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks set to support Xbox Play Anywhere at launch.
