Resident Evil Requiem may be more closely tied to Capcom's remake slate than fans expected, but the latest claim stops short of calling it a grand franchise reset. Leaker Dusk Golem says Resident Evil Veronica and the rumored Resident Evil Zero remake will connect to Requiem because the projects were being made around the same time.
The claim came as a response to speculation that Capcom is remaking older Resident Evil games to rebuild the series narrative around Requiem. Dusk Golem pushed back on that idea, saying there is no current plan to remake Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 and no larger initiative to remake every entry specifically for Requiem.
In comments on ResetEra compiled by Twisted Voxel, Dusk Golem said Veronica and Zero Remake will tie into Requiem, but described that connection as a product of overlapping development. The leaker also claimed Requiem itself sets up Veronica and Zero to connect more directly with it.
Capcom has confirmed part of that remake picture. The official Resident Evil Veronica site lists the game for 2027 and describes it as a remake of 2000's Resident Evil Code: Veronica, with modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline and Claire Redfield returning to Rockfort Island after the Raccoon City incident. Capcom has not announced a Resident Evil Zero remake.
Requiem gives that rumor a large target. Capcom announced Resident Evil Requiem as the ninth main installment and set its original release for February 27, 2026, while describing the franchise as having surpassed 170 million cumulative sales as of March 31, 2025. The newer claim suggests Capcom may be threading story material across Requiem and the remakes, but it does not confirm a remake roadmap beyond Veronica.
Recent Resident Evil coverage has already pointed to Capcom treating Veronica as a major follow-up rather than a side project. Earlier rumors claimed Veronica's story changes would tie the remake closer to the wider series, while a separate report claimed Requiem story DLC may wait until after Veronica. Those claims make the 2027 remake look increasingly important to Requiem's next phase.
Capcom has confirmed Veronica and dated it for 2027. It has not announced Zero Remake or verified any story links between those remakes and Requiem. If Dusk Golem's claim is accurate, Requiem could become the bridge between Capcom's newest mainline sequel and its next confirmed Resident Evil remake rather than a standalone chapter with only nostalgic callbacks.
