Crimson Desert has quickly become the financial centrepiece of Pearl Abyss' year, and the publisher is already looking at what could come next for the open-world action adventure.

In its 1Q26 earnings letter, Pearl Abyss says operating revenue and profit rose substantially thanks to the successful launch of Crimson Desert. Operating revenue reached ₩328.5 billion, about $220 million, up 419.8 percent year-on-year and 382.4 percent quarter-on-quarter. Operating profit came in at ₩212.1 billion, about $142 million.

The company also says Crimson Desert sales were evenly split between console and PC, a useful detail for a premium single-player game that launched across multiple platforms instead of leaning heavily on one storefront or device family. North America and Europe accounted for 81 percent of the revenue surge, with more than 80 percent of Crimson Desert sales coming from those regions.

Pearl Abyss expects Crimson Desert revenue to soften from its launch peak, which is typical for a paid single-player release after the first wave of sales. Even so, the company says it is looking into DLC, giving players the first real signal that the game could receive more substantial post-launch content beyond patches.

The timing fits the game's early support cycle. Crimson Desert launched on March 19, 2026, and Pearl Abyss describes it on Steam as an open-world action adventure set on Pywel, following Kliff as he tries to rebuild the Greymane faction. Since launch, updates have already touched systems such as combat, mounts and presentation, including the recent special mounts patch.

Pearl Abyss' wider outlook still stretches beyond Crimson Desert. Black Desert revenue is expected to soften, while the company points to DokeV and Plan 8 as titles still in development and says it wants to release a new game every two to three years.

No Crimson Desert DLC has been formally announced yet, so there is no release window, price or content outline. What has changed is the business case: Pearl Abyss now has a major premium hit, a balanced PC and console audience and a clear reason to keep Pywel active after launch.
