Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has locked in three more playable characters, with Blade, Loki and Deadpool joining Ghost Rider as the game's Samurai Outriders team.
The reveal came through an official PlayStation Blog post tied to EVO 2026, where producer Takeshi Yamanaka introduced the final team trailer. The same update also confirmed Asgard as a battle stage and set the game's next global open beta for July 24 to July 26 PT on PS5 and PC.
Samurai Outriders take shape
The new team brings together four darker Marvel characters, though the official post says they do not begin Episode Mode as a cohesive group. Ghost Rider had already been revealed, while Blade, Loki and Deadpool now fill out the rest of the roster slot.
Blade is described as an aggressive fighter who uses Muramasa, machine guns, glaives and a stake throw called Heartstopper. In this version, he has completed training in Japan and can unlock the red power of Muramasa to improve his sword-based skills after Heartstopper connects.
Loki leans into feints, counters, illusions, ice projectiles and magic. His style is meant to punish opponents who fall for deception, though the post also warns that exposed tricks can leave him open to heavy punishment.
Deadpool brings guns, grenades, swords and self-damaging attacks backed by his healing factor. The official description also gives him a fourth-wall gag, saying he has obtained a strategy guide from beyond the fourth wall that lets him use attacks inspired by fighting games of legend.
The reveal follows earlier Marvel Tōkon roster news, including Hulk and Shuri's Black Panther joining the Avengers team. With Samurai Outriders now announced, the game has another full squad in place before launch.
Asgard and the open beta are next
Asgard is the newly confirmed stage. In Marvel Tōkon, it is split across five areas: the Observatory, Bifrost Bridge, Throne Room, Treasure Vault and Yggdrasil, the World Tree.
The July open beta will include Blade as a playable character, with more details still to come. A PlayStation account will be required to participate, even on PC.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag team fighting game for PS5 and PC. Its PlayStation Store page lists PS Plus as required for online play on PS5, optional online play, in-game purchases and support for up to 64 online players with PS Plus.
Yamanaka also said character guide trailers are planned before launch, covering battle mechanics such as default colors, normal move animations, skills, super moves, ultimate abilities and assist types.
