Lenovo Gaming is giving PC players another shot at a free Steam copy of Heavy Rain, but the next drop is small enough that anyone interested will need to be ready early. The Lenovo Gaming promotion is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, with 5,000 Steam keys available while supplies last.
The giveaway starts at 9 AM PT, 12 PM ET, with the online queue opening one hour earlier. Players need a Legion Gaming Community account and an unlimited Steam account, meaning a Steam account that has spent at least $5. That Steam account also has to be connected and verified with the Legion Gaming Community before claiming a code.
Once the queue opens, users who get through will have 10 minutes to claim their Heavy Rain key. Lenovo is distributing the codes through GamesPlanet, then players can redeem the key on Steam. The catch is that anyone who already received Heavy Rain during Lenovo Gaming's previous drop is not eligible to claim it again.
Heavy Rain is a narrative thriller from Quantic Dream, the studio later known for Detroit: Become Human. Its story follows four playable characters investigating the Origami Killer, with player choices affecting who survives and how the mystery ends. The game first launched as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in 2010 before coming to PS4 and eventually PC.
The Steam version's store page lists Quantic Dream as both developer and publisher, with a June 18, 2020 PC release date. It describes the PC version as supporting 4K resolution and 60 fps, alongside keyboard and mouse controls.
This is Lenovo Gaming's second attempt to run another Heavy Rain drop after an earlier giveaway this year. A previous batch went quickly, and a follow-up planned for April 15 was delayed after technical issues. With only 5,000 additional keys planned for May 27, the practical window may be much shorter than the advertised day.
