Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is officially on the way, and the sequel is making the squad bigger. Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak Game Company have announced the co-op shooter for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a summer 2026 release window.

The most immediate change is the move from three-player teams to four-player co-op. IGN's reveal coverage also confirms PC support through Steam and the Epic Games Store, full crossplay and a new round of IGN First coverage due through May.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 reveal trailer
The reveal trailer introduces Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, Cold Iron Studios' follow-up to its 2021 co-op Xenomorph shooter.

The Steam listing describes the sequel as another third-person fight for survival in the Alien universe, with Colonial Marines sent into hostile corners where Xenomorphs stalk corridors and swarm in large numbers. It names Cold Iron Studios as developer and Daybreak Game Company as publisher.

That publisher change is notable because the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite launched in 2021 with Cold Iron Studios and Focus Entertainment attached. The first game was a three-player PvE survival shooter about holding off Xenomorph hordes, building class kits and pushing through campaign missions or other modes with friends.

Fireteam Elite 2 keeps that squad-shooter foundation, but Cold Iron is expanding the class setup. The sequel adds new and improved classes, new Xenomorph types and a Specialist class that lets players mix major and minor abilities from the available classes. The pitch is less about one fixed role per Marine and more about filling whatever gap the squad needs.

Horde mode is also being pushed harder this time. Steam says Fireteam Elite 2 will launch with multiple dedicated Horde maps, escalating waves of Xenomorphs and other enemies, and better rewards the longer a squad survives. The listing also mentions weapons and tools ranging from stun batons to pyro and electric ammo, which points to a game still focused on crowd control, positioning and sudden last-stand moments.

The announced platform list leaves the last generation behind. Aliens: Fireteam Elite came to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but the sequel is currently confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

A precise launch date has not been announced. Summer 2026 is the current window, while Steam still lists the release date as "to be announced." For Alien fans who wanted another co-op bug hunt after the first game's smaller, three-Marine structure, the reveal sets up a clearer promise: bigger squads, broader crossplay support and more ways to build a Colonial Marine before the Xenomorphs flood the room.
