Xbox Game Pass is opening May with a heavy first wave, with Xbox confirming that Forza Horizon 6, Subnautica 2, Mixtape and Final Fantasy V are all joining the service this month.

The biggest name is Forza Horizon 6, which arrives May 19 for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The Japan-set racer is launching into the subscription library on day one, with early access beginning May 15 for players who buy the Premium Upgrade. It follows recent momentum for Playground Games' racer after Forza Horizon 6 went gold and opened preloads on Xbox and PC.

Subnautica 2 is also part of the wave, joining Game Pass on May 14 in Game Preview for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC. Unknown Worlds' underwater survival sequel supports solo play and four-player co-op, with players building bases, crafting tools and exploring a new alien ocean. We covered its standalone arrival when Subnautica 2 locked in its Xbox Game Preview date.

The May Game Pass lineup

Final Fantasy V is available today, May 5, for cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. The classic RPG starts the wave before a busy run of May 6 additions: Ben 10 Power Trip, Descenders Next, Wheel World, Wildgate and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Mixtape follows on May 7 as another day-one Game Pass launch. The narrative adventure from Beethoven & Dinosaur is coming to cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Outbound arrives May 11 as a day-one release, while Black Jacket, Call of the Elder Gods and Elite Dangerous are scheduled for May 12. Five games leave Game Pass on May 15

The same update confirms five games are leaving the Game Pass library on May 15: Galacticare, Go Mecha Ball, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, Paw Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship and Planet of Lana. Each departing title is listed for cloud, console and PC.

As usual, Game Pass members can use their subscriber discount to buy leaving games before they rotate out. Xbox says the discount can reach up to 20%, which gives players a short window to keep anything they have not finished before the May 15 cutoff.
