Wuthering Waves is pulling a much larger Steam crowd as Version 3.5 goes live, giving Kuro Games' open-world action RPG one of the cleaner update-driven moves on Friday's most-played chart.

In Gamers Now's 17:50 UTC reading of Steam's public most-played chart on July 10, Wuthering Waves ranked No. 44, up five places from Steam's weekly comparison. Steam's live player data showed 34,243 players in-game at that point, more than triple the same evening slot from Thursday and roughly double the recent evening range seen earlier in the week.

For a game already sitting in Steam's top 50, the sharper movement was in the live audience. Wuthering Waves did not need a huge rank jump to stand out. Its Steam crowd expanded sharply inside the same visible chart band, which is usually harder to see from rank alone.

Version 3.5 gives returning players a clear reason to log in

The Steam movement lines up with the launch window for Version 3.5, titled Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns. In Kuro Games' Steam update post, the studio lists two new 5-star Resonators, Yangyang: Xuanling and Suisui, alongside Rover: Electro as a new Resonance Conversion Attribute.

Version 3.5 also adds Mengzhou: Land of Xuanfang as a new area, with Xuanfang Hold, Eastern Xuan Peaks, Western Fang Peaks and Southern Yuan Hills included in the update. The same notice lists new main quests for Chapter IV, exploration quests, new Echoes, new Tacet Fields, new events and PC-side changes including resource compression, Resource Cleanup support and XeSS 3 frame generation.

Version 3.5 adds new Mengzhou story content, events and Resonators to Kuro Games' open-world RPG.

Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play action RPG from Kuro Games where players explore Solaris-3 as Rover and build teams around character-based combat. The game's Steam store page lists its Steam release as April 28, 2025, so this is a live-service return rather than a launch-week bump.

A familiar Steam pattern for Wuthering Waves

Gamers Now covered a similar Wuthering Waves Steam chart climb around Version 3.3 and the game's second anniversary content in May. Version 3.5 is a new update cycle, and it arrives in the same week as the game's Xbox launch and Game Pass rewards, giving Kuro a broader platform push around the patch.

On Steam, the immediate story is narrower: Wuthering Waves held a top-50 rank while its current-player count moved far above the comparable readings from the previous several days. With new story chapters, a new region, new characters and live events now available, the player-count jump has a visible update window behind it without needing to turn the movement into a sales claim.
