Where Winds Meet brought a much larger PC crowd back on Thursday as version 2.0 went live, turning a steady Steam chart position into a sharper live-player move for Everstone Studio's free wuxia RPG.
In Gamers Now's 17:50 UTC reading of Steam's public most-played chart on July 23, Where Winds Meet ranked No. 71 with 22,237 players in-game. That was well above the comparable 17:50 reading of 13,085 players one day earlier, and more than double its recent multi-day level. Steam's chart data listed a 33,437-player weekly peak.
The rank itself barely moved, which is why the player count matters more than the placement. Where Winds Meet was already sitting in the lower half of Steam's top 100, but Thursday's audience was noticeably larger once the new update window opened.
Version 2.0 opens Hidden Mountain
The Steam movement arrived as version 2.0, titled Unseen Approach, started rolling out. The game's Steam page now leads with Hidden Mountain, described there as Where Winds Meet's first multi-layered mountain map.
Where Winds Meet is an open-world action RPG set in ancient China, with solo story content, online co-op, guild activities and wuxia combat built around swords, spears, fans, rope darts and mystic arts. Its Steam listing says gameplay content is free, with monetization limited to cosmetics, and notes cross-play and cross-progression across Xbox, PS5, PC and mobile.
The broader version 2.0 update is not just a new landscape. In a July 23 Steam update note, the developer says it adjusted underperforming Paths, addressed player-reported issues and made changes to progression, competitive modes, mystic skills and general character systems.

That gives returning players more than a single patch note to check. Hidden Mountain follows the earlier Imperial Palace update, which opened in late May, while version 2.0 also changes how several parts of the live game behave after launch.
The live count moved more than the rank
Where Winds Meet's No. 71 chart position does not look dramatic by itself. The current-player context is stronger: the latest reading was roughly 70% higher than the same time on Wednesday, and the game had reached nearly 29,800 players earlier on Thursday.
The verified update window gives that movement a clear frame. Hidden Mountain and the version 2.0 systems pass are live now, while Steam's latest reading put the game well above its recent level and kept it inside the weekly top 100.
