Playground Games is warning Forza Horizon 6 players to update before starting new sessions, after reports that some players have had save progress lost or reset.
In a Forza Support notice, the team says it is investigating an issue affecting some Forza Horizon 6 saves. Players on Windows PC, including Steam, are being told to make sure Microsoft Gaming Services is running version 37.114.10001.0 or higher before playing. Xbox Series X|S players should also install the latest system update, with Forza Support recommending a manual update check because only some consoles receive the update automatically at first.
Anyone already hit by the problem is being told to open a Forza Support ticket immediately, before creating more save data on the affected profile.
"We highly advise that you submit your ticket the same day the issue occurs to increase the chances of recovery," the support team said. "In the meantime, do not start new play sessions or create new saves until Forza Support has reviewed your case."
The safest steps before playing
Forza Support's advice is unusually cautious because the bug touches the one thing racing game players cannot quickly replace: hours of garage progress, event completion and collection work. The team says affected profiles may be reverted "back to an earlier save" if support can recover them.
The current guidance also tells Xbox players to disable Quick Resume for Forza Horizon 6, stay online when quitting the game and give cloud saves time to sync before shutting down a device. Players are also told not to force quit during save screens or power off during gameplay.
On PC, the fix path is tied to Microsoft's Gaming Services app, not a normal in-game patch. The official notice says the Xbox team has been working on platform updates for Xbox Series X|S and PC, while PC fixes have already rolled out through Gaming Services.
Forza Horizon 6 has been drawing a large audience since launch, with players driving 20 billion miles in its first week. That makes save reliability a high-priority issue for Playground, especially while players are still clearing early festival events and building up their car collections.
Forza Support has not said the problem is fully resolved. The latest advice is to update first, avoid risky shutdowns and contact support quickly if progress disappears.
