Nintendo has trimmed the official store page for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2, removing a more revealing description that briefly called the game a "full remake" and mentioned "stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay."

The current Nintendo Store page is much less specific. It now says: "The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!" That keeps the 2026 release window and Switch 2 exclusivity intact, but it no longer gives players much to read into about the remake's scope.

The change stands out because Nintendo has shown very little of the project since the Ocarina of Time remake was revealed for Switch 2. A short teaser confirmed the remake and showed young Link, but Nintendo has not yet detailed combat changes, dungeon structure, voice work or how closely the game will follow the Nintendo 64 original.

The removed wording raised questions about how faithful the remake will be

The pulled description circulated because it sounded more concrete than the public-facing page. VGC reported that the older metadata appeared in Google results and could also be seen through the Internet Archive before Nintendo changed it. The removed wording read: "The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay."

That wording does not confirm a shot-for-shot recreation. Still, "timeless gameplay" is the phrase fans have latched onto because it suggests Nintendo may be preserving the original adventure's familiar structure instead of rebuilding Ocarina of Time around the open-world design language of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo's current wording avoids that implication. The page still frames the game as "reborn" for a new generation, but the details players want most are still missing. Nintendo has confirmed Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 in 2026, changed the official store description and has not publicly explained why the more detailed blurb disappeared.
