Xbox services are down for some users today, with Microsoft acknowledging connection errors across several parts of the Xbox ecosystem. The disruption appears to be broad rather than limited to one game or one console feature.
The Xbox Support account said Microsoft is aware that some users are "encountering errors when attempting to connect to Xbox services and features," and that engineers are working to mitigate the issue. Microsoft pointed players to the Xbox status page for further updates.
The outage is especially disruptive because it touches services players use before they even get into a game. According to the Xbox status page details reported during the disruption, affected areas include Store & subscriptions, Friends & social activity, Cloud gaming & remote play, Games & gaming and Apps & mobile.
That means some players may run into trouble buying or downloading games, accessing subscription features, using social tools or connecting through Xbox Cloud Gaming. It may also affect players using the Xbox app or Xbox services away from a console, including on PC and mobile devices.
Xbox outage lands during a busy day for the platform
The timing is awkward for Xbox. Windows Central reported that the service problems arrived as some players were also having trouble accessing *Halo: Campaign Evolved* early access, though Microsoft has not publicly tied those complaints to the wider Xbox service outage.
Service outages are temporary by nature, but Xbox Live issues can spread quickly because so much of the platform now depends on online checks, store access, cloud saves, party systems and remote play. Players affected by the outage should check Microsoft's Xbox status page before troubleshooting their own hardware or network setup.
Microsoft has not given a firm estimate for when all affected Xbox services will be fully restored.
