Tower of Time is the latest PC game players can claim for free, but this one is not being handed out directly through Steam. Fanatical is offering Steam keys for Tower of Time as part of its May Madness sale, with the giveaway scheduled to run until May 23.
The offer is limited to 100,000 keys, so the end date is not the only cutoff players need to watch. Claiming a copy requires a Fanatical account, a newsletter subscription and a linked Steam account. The Steam profile also needs to meet Fanatical's eligibility requirement of at least one successful purchase of $5 or the local equivalent.
Tower of Time normally costs $24, according to the promotion details, so the giveaway is a low-friction way to try the 2018 RPG if the key supply holds. Once claimed and redeemed, the key adds the game to the player's Steam library like a standard PC purchase.
What Tower of Time plays like
On its Steam store page, Tower of Time is listed as a story-rich dungeon crawler from developer and publisher Event Horizon. It launched on Steam on April 12, 2018 and is pitched around more than 50 hours of gameplay, hand-crafted levels and a combat system that lets players pause or slow time.
That combat system is the main hook. Battles are designed more like tactical puzzles than pure action encounters, with positioning, class synergies and equipment choices shaping how each fight plays out. The Steam listing also highlights seven character classes, 150 enemy types, 50 bosses, five difficulty levels, crafting, enchanting and an upgradeable city.
The game also includes RPGlite and Permadeath modes. RPGlite trims story content so players can focus more directly on party building and combat, while Permadeath is aimed at players who want a harsher challenge.
The Fanatical route is a little different from the usual limited-time Steam store promotion. The game is still redeemed on Steam, but the key has to be claimed through Fanatical while supplies last.
