Outbound is out now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud, giving Xbox Game Pass subscribers a day-one cozy road trip to start today.
The open-world exploration game from Square Glade Games is also an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so players can move between console and PC with one purchase through the Xbox ecosystem. According to the Xbox store page, Outbound is a simulation game about building a home on wheels, living sustainably off-grid and exploring a colorful world with up to four players.
Instead of framing launch day around a standard feature checklist, the official announcement spotlights five places players can visit early in the game. The list gives a better sense of Outbound's tone: relaxed exploration, small environmental projects and a van that becomes more personal as the trip unfolds.
The starting meadows include a Fire Lookout that gives players a wide view of the valley and contains a terminal with a blueprint for upgrading an early-game workbench. On the coast, the Lighthouse adds a puzzle objective, asking players to craft electronics and repair its broken light.
Outbound also has a stop called Paws & Whiskers Lodge, where players can adopt a dog to travel with them for the rest of the game. The announcement confirms that the dog can be petted, which is exactly the kind of detail cozy-game players tend to look for before committing to a new companion.
Other landmarks lean into crafting and world changes. The Windmill sits near tulip fields and turns flower petals into paints for furniture customization, while Red Rock Rapids Kayak Club sends players to repair a broken bridge in a canyon area between waterfalls.
The launch gives Game Pass another smaller, personality-led addition rather than a blockbuster release. Outbound's pitch is clear: build up a camper van, gather resources, make the space your own and use the road trip as a reason to keep pushing into the next corner of its map.
