Invincible VS is out today, bringing Skybound's superhero series into a 3v3 tag fighter with an 18-character roster, four modes and post-launch DLC already planned.
The game launches April 30 at 10:00 am PT for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, according to the official launch post. It follows this week's Invincible VS launch trailer, which framed the game as a deliberately brutal take on team fighting rather than a simple licensed brawler.
Quarter Up, Skybound's in-house studio, is launching the game with Mark Grayson, Omni-Man, Atom Eve, Rex Splode and Ella Mental among the roster. Ella Mental is the game's first original character and is voiced by Tierra Whack.
The launch package includes Training Mode, Arcade Mode, Versus Mode and Story Mode. Training Mode is for learning characters and movesets, Arcade Mode includes character-specific lore, Versus Mode covers direct player fights and Story Mode delivers an original narrative set between later episodes of Invincible Season 3 on Prime Video.

That story mode is one of the bigger launch hooks for fans of the show. Skybound says it includes more than 25 minutes of original cinematics and brings back members of the voice cast, including J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve, Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode and Michael Dorn as Battle Beast.
The first year of DLC is also mapped out. The Year 1 Character Pass will add four more fighters, with Universa and The Immortal due this summer. The pass is included with the Digital Deluxe Edition and will also be sold separately.
Invincible VS now has to make the jump from recognizable license to staying power. Its best shot is the tag format itself: an 18-fighter launch roster gives the game room for team composition, assists and messy matchups that fit Invincible's brand of violent superhero escalation.
