Arrowhead Game Studios says Helldivers 2 is getting a sharper focus on long-term progression, clearer update communication and more meaningful Galactic War rewards after a fresh wave of community feedback.

In a Steam news post, Arrowhead said it has been following recent conversations across Reddit, Discord and X, adding that it wants to be clearer about what the studio is working on next. The first results from its progression and Galactic War work are planned for this summer.

Major Orders are being reshaped into campaigns

Arrowhead said one of its current priorities is improving meta-progression and the Galactic War, Helldivers 2's ongoing community-wide war effort. The studio says it has "significantly expanded" the team working on those long-term systems.

The planned changes include more meaningful rewards, community progression systems and Major Orders evolving into longer, multi-week themed campaigns. Arrowhead also wants branching outcomes to create clearer stakes based on player actions, which would give the Galactic War more weight than a simple sequence of short-term objectives.

The studio is also looking at reward variety. It specifically mentioned bringing back more excitement around rewards, including stratagem unlocks and more community-driven moments.

Arrowhead says patch notes need to be clearer

A second major thread is communication. Arrowhead acknowledged frustration around hidden or poorly explained changes to weapons and enemies, saying that "in some cases" changes were not communicated with the clarity it intended.

The studio says it is improving its internal process so patch notes more accurately reflect gameplay adjustments. It also plans to explain balance updates more clearly when a change affects several weapons, enemy types or gameplay systems at once.

That commitment matters for a live-service shooter where balance changes can reshape loadouts overnight. Recent Helldivers 2 updates have already mixed practical fixes with platform-specific changes, including a patch that added PS5 Low Energy Mode while addressing Xbox issues, so clearer patch notes should make it easier for squads to understand what changed before they drop.

More testing and gameplay rewards are planned

Arrowhead also said it is exploring more closed and public beta testing, especially for balance changes. The challenge, according to the studio, is testing openly without spoiling upcoming content or narrative elements tied to the Galactic War.

The studio addressed the reaction to Exo Experts as well. After feedback about putting exosuits in a premium Warbond, Arrowhead said it wants to balance Warbond content with gameplay rewards so unlocks feel exciting and fair. It added that other vehicles will be awarded through gameplay in the future.

More combat and progression additions are in development too. Arrowhead said teams are actively working on new red stratagems, evolving ships and player progression to level 150 "and beyond," with more details coming closer to release.

For Helldivers 2, the update reads less like a single content reveal and more like a public reset on how Arrowhead wants to communicate. The promises are specific enough to set expectations, but the studio's next test is delivery, starting with the first Galactic War and progression changes this summer.
