Story Kitchen is trying to get a Planet of Lana movie off the ground, but this does not sound like a greenlight yet.
The detail came from Story Kitchen co-founder Mike Goldberg, who said the company was working that week to get a film going based on Planet of Lana, according to Game File's report from the iicon event in Las Vegas. The important caveat is scope: the report describes an adaptation effort, not a production announcement, release plan or confirmed studio deal.
Planet of Lana joins a crowded adaptation slate
Story Kitchen is already deep in video game adaptations. Its official project list includes Sonic the Hedgehog films, Tomb Raider projects, Life is Strange, It Takes Two, Sifu, Streets of Rage, Vampire Survivors, Sleeping Dogs, Shinobi, Slime Rancher and more.
That makes Planet of Lana a smaller but interesting fit. The official Planet of Lana site frames the series as a hand-painted puzzle adventure and sci-fi saga, with Lana and her companion Mui crossing a world shaped by robot invasion, old mysteries and sweeping alien landscapes.
Those qualities explain why the game could appeal to adaptation producers even before there is a formal movie announcement. Planet of Lana is more intimate than many of the action-heavy names in Story Kitchen's slate, but its painterly look and wordless adventure tone give it a clear visual identity.
Goldberg's comment also fits a wider moment for game adaptations, where producers are looking beyond the biggest legacy franchises for recognizable worlds that can carry animation, film or television projects. Still, the Planet of Lana effort should be treated as early-stage until Story Kitchen, Wishfully or Thunderful announces a deal, creative team or production partner.
